KOBE (8) - PORT OF KOBE EARTHQUAKE MEMORIAL PARK

We paid a visit to the Port of Kobe Earthquake Memorial Park, near Harborland.

The devastating earthquake took place on Tuesday, January 17, 1995, at 05:46.

The earthquake caused great damage to the Meriken Park.
The authority preserved the collapsed pier and tilted street lamps at the time of aftermath of the earthquake so as to allow visitors to witness the intensity of the tremor.

There is an exhibition space nearby, displaying photo panels of the earthquake and other articles in relation to the damages caused by the earthquake.
There is also a video and display panel showing the effects of the devastating earthquake.

JAPAN TRIP - (7) Osaka Aquarium

We visited the huge Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium.
A 5 mins' walk from Osakako train station.
Adult ticket costs yen 2000.
It's definitely worth the time and money. We spent about 2.5 hr there and shopped at the nearby Tempozan Market Place.

TIPS - CHECK out the feeding times so that you won't miss them.

Don't forget to visit the Kaiyukan Museum souvenir shop on Level 2, and have a picture taking from the machine, with choice background, at yen 500.

The laid-back otter that swims on its back.

The smiley sting-ray fish.

The blissful family of dolphins swimming together.

Some penguins sleep while others are awake.

JAPAN TRIP - (1) KONICHIWA

(Sanrio HELLO KITTY Shop!!! At Shinsaibashi Suji)

We're BACK from JAPAN!

We were in Japan Osaka and Kobe from Sept 10-19!

It was as enjoyable as our previous trips to Japan.
Except that it was supposed to be early Autumn but it was as summer as SINGAPURA :- (

Well, other than the hot weather, no complaints coz we still get to shop, eat, shop, eat ...
plus shop again as our return flight was delayed by 7hours!!! :-)

(Handphone Strap with KAWAII Bunnies!!)

Of course we brought back some bags and clothings from Japan.
We will be putting them on Adore Blogshop for sale from Sat, Sept 25.

(Burberry Blue Label Japan)

We will also be selling a BURBERRY BLUE LABEL Japan PINK CHECKS
2-way clutch/shoulder bag! 2010 collections.
1 and only piece!
View future posting for details.

Will be posting pictures and highlights of our 10-day trip too!

JAPAN TRIP- (6) KOBE BEEF DESSERT TIME

After the main meal,
the service staff will lead you to a cozy area for desserts and coffee/tea.

Honey ice cream with walnut + Blueberry Yoghurt

Only Honey Ice Cream for the cheaper set!

Well, I guess you get what you pay for.
The beef served for the higher priced set was definitely better!
It was more tender and juicier.
It tasted milky too, almost melted in my mouth.
Of course, if you can afford, go for the highest priced set.

The garlic rice, ice cream and yoghurt were very yummy too!

No regrets!

JAPAN TRIP- (5) KOBE BEEF COURSE MEAL

Below are what we had for our meal.

Starter

Mushroom Soup

Salad

Kobe Beef

Miso Soup and Garlic Rice

(View the next post on their desserts!)

JAPAN TRIP- (4) KOBE BEEF

How can we not try the famous KOBE BEEF?
Even if it means some heartache when the credit card bill comes!
(Yen 11 350 for 2 set lunch, with 2 drinks!)
But, it's worth the experience!!!

We had lunch set at THE KOBE PLAISIR.
It is located a floor below the lobby area of Hotel B Kobe.
Show your hotel room key card to get 5% off the bill.
(The brown apron is for you to put on before the beef gets sizzled.)

The ambience and service was wonderful.

The service staff will first let you view their menu,
so you get to choose either beef teppanyaki, shabu shabu or rice set.

After your selection, you have to decide on the 3 prices available -
lunch from yen 3150 teppanyaki and dinner from yen 8400.

We chose 2 teppanyaki- 1 at yen 3150 and the other at yen 8400!

Can you tell which is the more expensive beef?

JAPAN TRIP -(3) Hotel Stays

We went free and easy.

Managed to book online for the two hotels below.

OSAKA

Chisun Shinsaibashi Hotel
Room was tiny but of acceptable standard.
VERY comfortable bed and comforter!

There was enough space for our barang barang.

They even managed to squeeze in a bathtub in the mini toilet.

Overall, this is a hotel worth staying as it is 30sec to the Crysta Underground Mall with restaurants, shops and it links to the Nagahoribashi MRT and Shinsaibashi MRT.
Thus, u can actually walk underground to Shinsaibashi Suji shopping streets and Dotombori.

Tips: Take North exit 4 as it has a lift to take u from underground to ground floor.
Turn right when exit the lift and it's a min walk to hotel.
Look out for cars going in and out of the petrol station that is near the lift exit!

KOBE

Hotel Kobe B
Quite a good size room compared to the usual tiny hotel rooms in Japan.

The room is neat and looks new and modern.
English-speaking staff and FREE INTERNET access from lobby laptop.

Would definitely come back to this hotel in Kobe.
2 min's walk to Food Streets and another
3-5 min's walk to Sannomiya MRT and shopping streets.
